Abstract

The impacts caused by the connection of tree-phase, medium size generators (greater or equal to 1 MVA) directly to primary distribution networks (greater or equal to 10 kV) have been intensively investigated in the last 10 years. Consequently, practices of analysis, operation and protection are relatively well defined and accepted. During this period, the main focus has been on the analysis in one-by-one basis, i.e., based on the requirement of a new distributed generator owner, the utility engineers conduct several studies and then the project may be approved, approved with modifications or rejected. Besides details of the project, in this context, the point of connection may be altered in order to maximize the benefits or minimize the negative impacts caused by the generator, process called optimum allocation. However, with on the publication of the Technical Note 0043/2010-RD/ANEEL and other actions, one can see that Brazilian govern wants to incentive the usage of distributed generation based renewable energy (mainly photovoltaic panels) in low voltage distribution networks (smaller or equal to 220 V). Such facts lead to a new scenario different from the previous one investigated in the last 10 years, demanding new methods of analysis. Since nowadays there is no methodology widely accept for analysis of the intensive installation of hundreds of small generators directly into secondary network, this research project aim to develop new method for analysis of ultra-dispersed generation taking into consideration static aspects.
