Abstract

The emerging secondary distribution networks scenario comprises large scale connection of small size generators (especially photovoltaic panels - PV), increase on electronic and controllable loads, and development of new policies to lead the consumer into a more collaborative behavior, with home appliance identification. To analyze the technical impacts arisen from such new scenario, a research group headed by Prof. Wilsun Xu, PhD (IEEE Fellow) at University of Alberta, Canada, has been developing a computational platform capable of modeling the low voltage distribution networks behavior. In this context, this project aims to provide a 6 month internship for the candidate at the development group supervised by Prof. Wilsun Xu, allowing him to participate in the module devoted to electrical modeling of PV panels, incorporating, mainly, the stochastic pattern of its grid connection. The computational tool will achieve great applicability on current electrical energy systems scenario, and may support the master studies related to this project, as well as other upcoming research projects conducted by both the Canadian group and the Brazilian group headed by Dr. Walmir Freitas (Brazilian supervisor of the candidate). Furthermore, another important goal of this project is to provide a visiting opportunity for the candidate at the research group headed by Prof. Wilsun Xu, and consolidate the already existing partnership among both Brazilian and Canadian groups. This collaboration with such a renowned researcher is highly important for the candidate career development. (AU)
