The aim of this research is to analyze the hesitations in the beginning of utterances in child language, looking at linguistic discourse, whereby the hesitation marks will be considered as the subject of negotiations with the other constituents of the speech. The analysis will be guided by the following objectives: (1) verify the existence (or not) of hesitation marks at the beginning of utterances in the speech of children with typical language development and acquisition, in the oral production of open discourse, (2) characterize hesitation marks found, (3) explore whether the presence/absence of hesitation marks in the beginning of the utterances could be explained by facts recoverable in the production of discourses of children. The subject of this research will be 19 children between five and six years old, attending the level II in a Local Kindergarten School in Marília. Such children will participate in an interview in which they will talk about their knowledge on stringed musical instruments, and which will be recorded individually inside a acoustic room. The analysis of the results will be made from subsidies drawn from linguistic studies of discourse. (AU)
