Abstract

This project is an extension of the Cientific Iniciation research, supported by FAPESP, developed between the years of 2009 and 2010, in which were studied the works Sequenza VII, for solo oboe, and Chemins IV, for oboe and eleven strings, of Luciano Berio (1925-2003). Thus project pretends to deepen the research on the work of this composer through the analysis of the works Sequenza IV (1965), 6 Encores (1965-1990), both for solo piano, and Points on the Curve to Find...(1974), for piano and 23 instruments. In view of the importance of the technical renovations proposed by Berio in his writing of solo instruments pieces, the main focus of this research is the study of the relationship between the technical increases and the compositional processes that they provide, at the ambit of his piano writing. Besides the analysis of the pieces and the study of the available bibliography about Berios's work, this project also includes a pratical compositional experience based on the techniques and the procedures studied.
