Abstract

The study will be carried out in sixty (60) Holstein cow Holstein with a history free of productive and reproductive complications. For inclusion in the animals must be second or third order of calving, 24 hours after vaginal delivery, removing the placenta until 12 hours after calving. After 24 hours of parturition will be performed ultrasound examination of the reproductive system, with emphasis on the findings of the uterus. These animals will be harvested, under sterile conditions, samples of loquial secretion (Moment I) aiming to carry out the cultivation and microbiological testing "in vitro" antibiotic sensitivity. Further samples are collected for making smears for subsequent secretion loquial achievement of specific staining and cell typing (uterine cytology). The postpartum period will be monitored for complications and changes to the reproductive and productive. After fourteen days of calving (Moment II), will be repeated ultrasound examinations of the reproductive system, with emphasis on the findings of the uterus. Samples taken from uterine secretions for the realization of microbiological culture and antibiotic susceptibility of isolates under the same conditions above. Simultaneously, smears will be prepared to subsequent uterine secretion of specific staining and realization of typing cell (uterine cytology). Blood samples will be collected, 24 (Moment I) and 14 days (Moment II) after delivery of each cow participant of the experiment, to characterize the phagocytic capacity of neutrophils and production of CBC. The material obtained for the performance of microbiological tests (Moments I and II) will be submitted to bacterial culture (aerobic and anaerobic) and mycology. In strains of Escherichia coli strains will be investigated different virulence factors (Pilis, adhesins, citolisinas). The objective is to establish the relationship between the virulence factors of E. coli isolated from the uterus of cows 24 hours after parturition, with the presence of Arcanobacterium pyogenes and anaerobic bacteria in the uterine environment in the second week postpartum.
