Abstract

T. pyogenes are gram-positive, pleomorphic opportunistic, belonging to the group coryneform, which includes several micro-organisms of veterinary interest. Presents ubiquitous distribution, found in the skin microbiota, oropharynx and genital tract and gut of animals, as well as contaminating utensils. Mastitis in cows and heifers generally occurs in clinical form, lactation or the dry period in the form of isolated cases or outbreaks. Characterized clinically by abscesses or lumps in one or more breasts, with or without the presence of leaks. Mastitis T. pyogenes tissue resolution is difficult due to formation of pyogranulomas, often culminating in the recommendation segregation of animals, chemical drying teat affected, or even discarding the animal. This agent is often refractory to treatment with conventional antimicrobials, although sensitivity in vitro of the conventional drugs alone. It is estimated that this study will be used in approximately 50 to 70 isolates of T. pyogenes obtained from cases of clinical or subclinical mastitis in cows. Phenotypic tests (identification, proof of CAMP, multiplication in medium with iron restriction, antibiotic sensitivity) will be performed at the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases of Animals FMVZ-UNESP/Botucatu, SP. The diagnosis of clinical mastitis will be made based on macroscopic changes in milk proof mug screened dark background (Tamil). After microbiological testing will be conducted CAMP test for identification piolisina, multiplication in medium with iron restriction, antimicrobial susceptibility profile (diffusion method with discs) and molecular diagnostics. Indeed, the present study aims to characterize the main phenotypic properties of strains of Trueperella (Arcanobacterium) pyogenes isolated from clinical or subclinical mastitis in cows. It is intended also to ascertain the major virulence-associated genes recently (fimA, plo, CBPA) in isolates from mastitis. (AU)
