The lambari-do-rabo-vermelho Astyanax fasciatus is a real abundant specie in Brazilian hydrographic basins and some works elucidate the knowledge about his biology and natural environment. The studies with this gender species inside the aquaculture are few and recent, justifying this project. The aim of this study is observe possible morphological modifications that may occurs during the transition in a sample of the natural population to the fish-farm conditions. A preliminary sample will be realized in July 2011 to accomplish the captivity squad. Monthly samples will be collected in situ and ex situ from August 2011 to April 2012. The fish will be caught by seine, sieve and gillnet. The biometry of all fishes will be performed to obtain the condition factor, gonadosomatic index, hepatosomatic index and length-weight relationship. Macroscopic analysis of the fresh gonads will be realized as well as the photo documentation of the same. Furthermore the histological analysis will be done obtain photomicrographies and stereological analysis with the gonadal volume estimative by the Cavalieri's method. The comparison pattern will be the nature fish gonads.
