Abstract

The objective of this project is to analyze the place of certain social markers of difference in the interactional dynamics and the life trajectories of a network of men and women in the age of 40/50 years who identify themselves as "gays" or "lésbicas" and belong to upper classes in São Paulo. More specifically, it's about inquiring how class, 'race', generation and seropositivity more or less rigorously sets some possibilities of agency, constraining, amplifying or even creating new "fields of manipulation" to which these individuals can resort. The field work will follow the ethnographic work carried out over three years in the context of two graduation-level research projects, including in-depth interviews in the format of life history and participant observation in situations of sociability.
