Abstract

The city of São Paulo has the last three decades the intensification of socio-spatial contradictions, especially with regard to the logic of the process of adding to the urban, experienced by residents of the city's outskirts. Often the condition of precariousness that inclusion becomes deceptively "attenuated" by the consumption of cultural products hegemonic character-media spectacle. However, these products do not dialogue with the reality experienced in the suburbs, especially instilling in youth a sense of marginalization. Thus, as a way to counter this process, some of these young people started to produce full of cultural significance. This cultural production takes place through collective located in the cultural periphery, which in most cases are not linked to any political or ideologically hegemonic major cultural agent. Thus, these collective cultural issue oppose and overcome the dictates of the capitalist homogenization and standardization of cultural goods, allowing a self-awareness, as well as fall and fall of a critical subject in society. Thus promoting social emancipation, leading those involved to attach new meanings and values to the elements that constitute their existence, such as urban space, which is to be lived. In this context, the collective gain cultural importance. Thus we propose the study of signification space mediated by the production and circulation of counter-hegemonic culture on the outskirts of Sao Paulo. (AU)
