Abstract

Current studies indicate the importance of considering aspects of students' culture and identity in teaching-learning processes. However, when treating of Science Teaching, the possible links between science and cultural identity are not clear. In order to contribute to this issue, the first step of this project is understand the social representations of science and culture conveyed in the speech of high school students. For this, our work will be based on the work started in the sixties by Serge Moscovici, who interpreted the theoretical and methodological bases for the study of social representations. In a second stage of the work, we will seek to study teaching strategies that enable the creation of links of identity through the relationship between science and culture. In this case, we will need to reframe how students perceive the nature of scientific knowledge so to consider it a part of their culture. (AU)
