Abstract

This project consists of studying deaf terena children and adolescents, who may speak LIBRAS or not (those who are verbal or can lipread Portuguese) in their relationships with their family and indigenous community, that speak only portuguease and terena, and with the dominant society. Another objective will be to understand what role the languages have in the formation of these relationships and the deaf identity. Besides this, the project seeks to discover the existence of a terena sign language.
