Abstract

In the Ribeira Valle, Anthurium andraeanum Lindl (Anthurium) is one of the most cultivated ornamental plants. However, there is still a lack of technical information on the cultivation of this plant species. Therefore, the objective of this study is to determine the most appropriate amount of sawdust for use as a ground cover for productivity and quality of harvested flower stalks. The project will be conducted with adult plants of Anthurium andraeanum "Apalai" in a completely randomized design with five treatments (0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 L m-2) and eight repetitions. The application of the sawdust will be made four times a year, when leaves will be collected samples of soil, leaf and used sawdust, and determined the total leaf area of plants. Each week there will be the harvest of flower stalks and determining their dimensions, as well as its appearance. (AU)
