Abstract

The muscular system is often subject to injuries, which restrict its performance. Muscle injury can occur in several circumstances, among them sports activities where the lesion rupture is the most severe and occur with high incidence. This type of injury causes disruption of muscle fibers at high impact and speed. The present study will evaluate by a high-speed traction device, the mechanical properties of the gastrocnemius muscle in groups of rats submitted to physical training and to impact injury. The rats will be divided into six groups: (1) Control, (2) Control and injured, (3) Swim training, (4) Swim training and injured, (5) Resisted swim training, and (6) Resisted swim training and injured. Therefore, the groups proposed in this work will be evaluated in relation to the training process, and injury and control (sedentary). Later the mechanical tests will be performed on the equipment with the right leg of the animals. All data will be analyzed as belonging or not to a normal distribution (Gauss distribution). Depending on the normality of these data, it will be allocated with specific tests for each purpose. The significance level is 5%.(AU)
