Abstract

To making coagulation tests of sludge from the stabilization ponds is necessary know the coagulants dosage that show the best results in terms of solid-liquid separation and thickening of the material by Jar Test. It is intended to test different commercial coagulants, being the most common used as: aluminum sulfate, hydroxy-aluminum chloride (PAC), ferric chloride and others. Thus, allowing the analysis of optimal dosage of each coagulant for sludge with different concentrations of solids in the removed sludge from the stabilization pond. In this research analysis will be conducted to characterize the different sludge solids concentrations and then study for each test of dosage analyzing of the thickening level and the possibility of removing the sludge. Subsequently, the best results from these tests will be used as a reference in an automated dosing system being developed with a sludge blanket settler flocculator in the separation and thickening process of the sludge removed from the stabilization ponds.
