Abstract

The addition of coagulant based of Moringa oleifera seeds powder in filtration systems, although submit high efficiency, contributes to reducing the run filtration due to the increase of solid load. In the aforementioned context, the present work aims at developing a technique that enables the dosage of coagulant through sachets in the water treatment, aiming to reduce the solids of the water to be treated from the coagulant. The research will be divided into three phases: in phase 1, sachets containing Moringa oleifera seeds powder will made from different materials to evaluate the dissolution kinetics of the protein in liquid medium (distilled water) and monitoring of turbidity values during dissolution according on the material used in making the sachet. In the phase 2 the sachet responsible for high rates of dissolution of the protein and lower turbidity, will be used to water treatment in the jar-test, where will be tested different doses of Moringa oleifera seeds powder. In the phase three, will be built a pilot system consisting of one roughing filter and one slow sand filter, and tests using the sachet and better conditions of the phase 2 will be made. The parameters monitored in the phases 2 and 3 will be: turbidity, pH, apparent color, series of solids and conductivity. With this research expected to develop a product of low cost that could improve population quality of life that don't have technical and financial resources.
