Abstract The use of inorganic compounds in the treatment of infectious and parasitic diseases is becoming increasingly common, since the microorganisms that cause these diseases develop resistance to traditional treatments, that are generally based in the use of organic compounds, such as isoniazid, used in the treatment of tuberculosis. The complexes of rhenium and vanadium have biological properties known in the literature. However, the biological potential of the complexes with these metals against bacteria and parasites responsible for a large number of diseases still unexplored. This project aims the synthesis and characterization of dithiocarbazates, thiosemicarbazones and hydrazones type ligands of biological potential and study the complexation of these ligands beyond of a pyridinone type ligand, previously synthesized in the laboratory, with vanadium and rhenium. The obtained complexes will be characterized and after the determination of molecular structure, the biological activity anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis, anti-Trypanosoma cruzi and anti-Leishmania thereof will be evaluated. It is hoped to obtain compounds that have low toxicity and high biological activity against the bacteria and parasites described above. (AU) | |
