The antimicrobial activity and solvent ability to irrigate solutions contribute to root canal disinfection and cleaning during root canal preparation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the antibacterial and solvent action of sodium hypochlorite solution and its association with cetrimide. Assessment will be used for antimicrobial testing using a direct contact test with Enterococcus faecalis. The microorganism will be placed in contact with the irrigating solutions for 30 seconds, 1, 3 and 10 minutes. A neutralizing solution will be used after the experimental periods. The samples will be diluted and plated on Petri dishes with Tryptic Soy agar to evaluate the growth of the colonies. For the analysis of the dissolution of the pulp tissue, the solutions will be kept for 10 minutes in contact with pieces of the bovine pulp tissue. After the experimental period, samples will be washed and maintained at a temperature of 37 ° C until the mass stabilization. The difference in weight of each sample before and after exposure to the solution to be analyzed will be divided by the weight of the original tissue and multiplied by 100 to obtain the percentage of loss or gain of weight of the tissue. The results will be statistically analyzed by analysis of variance and the Tukey test at 5% significance level.(AU)
