Abstract In this Project the synthesis and characterization of cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots, QDs, with different diameters and caped with triocytlphosphine (TOP) and triocytlphosphine oxide (TOPO) will be investigated. The nanostructures diameters will be controlled by reaction medium temperature and evaluated by UV-vis absorption. In the sequence, ZnO nanorods vertically aligned will be deposited on stainless steel, electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) Pt electrodes and ITO, from a 5 mM ZnCl2 + 0,1 M KCl oxygen saturated bath and characterized by AFM and SEM-FEG microscopies and X-ray diffraction. For nanorods modification with QDs, the TOP/TOPO capping will be substituted by an alkanethiol coverage (mercaptopropionic acid - MPA) and further adsorption by immersion of the surfaces modified with nanorods, monitored by EQCM. The electrical, optical and electrochemistry characteristics of such modified electrode will be evaluated by voltammetric, electrochemical impedance and UV-vis absorption measurements. | |
