Abstract

In beef cattle production, the sexual precocity is a trait with a big importance because of the high economic value associated to it, being three times more important, in genetic-economic values, than growth traits. The genetic parameters are interesting, because it has high heritability values, permitting selection. However, in genomic analyses, is difficult to find the balance between applying a conservative or a relaxed threshold model, so new methodologies were proposed to find genes of interest using previous genomic analyses. So, it is proposed to investigate causal polymorphisms in these genes previously indicated as candidates (NCOA2 and TOX) as well as others (JY-1) and establish a possible association with sexual precocity in Nellore heifers.
