Abstract

The evaluation of the patient's health status and effectiveness of an intervention is very important to practice and clinical research. However, as these aspects are evaluated by questionnaires, the responsiveness of the tool must be known. The aims of this study are to analyze the responsiveness of the Brazilian version of The Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI-Brazil) and the Penn Shoulder Score (PSS-Brazil) in patients with shoulder dysfunctions and compare responsiveness between them and the Brazilian DASH. The three questionnaires will be applied in 30 patients with different shoulder disorders at the initial assessment and again 4 weeks later, with a Global Rating of Change Scale (GRCS). All patients will receive physical therapy treatment within this 4-week period and will be divided by GRCS into a group with Improvement (G1) and a group with Non-improvement (G2). The internal responsiveness analysis of the questionnaires will be performed in both groups by the Effect Size (ES) and Standardized Response Mean (SRM). The external responsiveness will be analyzed by the method Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC curve) for the SPADI-Brazil and PSS-Brazil and by Pearson's correlation coefficient between the change in score of SPADI-Brazil and PSS-Brazil and the change in Brazilian DASH scores for G1 and G2 groups.(AU)
