Abstract

Nowadays, Perovskite ferroelectric oxides are multifunctional materials that have been the focus of intense technologic and scientific research. They can even show novel coupling of multiple coexisting states, such as magnetism and superconductivity, or ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism. They can be used to fabricate various devices including nonvolatile ferroelectric random access memories, optico devices (photoluminescence) microsensors, transparent conducting oxide (TCOs) and optico-eletronic devices. This research proposes to make use of the experimental procedure and DFT computational tools to investigate the multifunctional properties of some chemically-specific perovskite oxides ABO3 structures, in particular Pb1-xSrxTi1-yFeyO3 (PSTF) in the form of thin film and bulk. In addition, a systematic study of structural properties in PSTF, as a function of dopants (ions Fe) will employ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) methods, which can provide crucial structural information with relation of the Fe valence state and local structure around the Ti and Fe atoms. On the other hand, ferroelectric properties will be investigated mainly by results from displacement of Ti and/or Fe ions with respect to the oxygen cage. Among the ferroelectric oxide multifunctional properties, we specifically want to investigate optic (photoluminescence) constructing supercell models in DFT calculate.
