Size and mobility of lipoproteins Z-scan in obese adolescents

Abstract

Obesity is a chronic disease whose prevalence is increasing in recent decades, the incidence among young people is important cardiovascular risk factor in the adult population. Although obesity is associated with several metabolic changes, dyslipidemia play an important role among adolescents. In this sense, the determination of lipid profile and probably the cardiovascular risk factor most widely used in research as well as in clinical practice. Nevertheless, it is likely that obesity contributes negatively to change the chemical composition and structure of lipoproteins, making them more atherogenic. The aim of this study and evaluate the size and mobility of lipoproteins Z-Scan of LDL in adolescents with different body mass indexes. Will be recruited adolescents of both sexes, aged from 10 to 19 years and regularly enrolled in public schools in São Paulo. Teens will be divided into three groups: normal weight, overweight and obesity. After fasting (12-15h) will be collected and a blood sample will be from plasma to the following analysis: total lipid profile (commercial kits), lipoprotein size and mobility of the Z-Scan LDL and apolipoprotein A and B (commercial kit) . With the completion of this proposal is intended to identify structural and chemical changes in lipoproteins to maintain relationship with obesity. (AU)
