Abstract

The increasing prevalence of diabetes mellitus among young adults suggests that this disease has become common among workers of this age. So there is an increasing number of individuals living and working with diabetes, a chronic disease that can affect the work and therefore income generation. The present study aims to understand how nurses understand the implications of diabetes in the performance of productive activity in order to subsidize appropriate guidelines for the reality of the worker with diabetes. To grasp the object of study was chosen qualitative methodology, a socio-anthropological approach that allows us to understand the social and cultural aspects involved in this phenomenon, in order to contribute to building the most appropriate interventions related to the social, cultural, and economic development of people with diabetes. This study will be developed in the Basic Health District Health Center Joel Domingues Machado School, located in Western District. Study participants will be nurses who work in these services, making a sample of 10 participants. The collection of data will be used to observe and record in a field diary of situations related to the object of study and identified throughout the research process, interview using a semi-structured and application form for a survey of socioeconomic data, occupational. The data is analyzed through content analysis following the phases of pre-analysis, exploration, and interpretation of data.(AU)
