Abstract

This research aims to identify new domestic arrangements of Brazilian family groups, relating them to changes on demographic profiles that have occurred since 1990. This could became an important tool for the definition of housing projects, because it translates recent demographic and population profiles into specific spatial demands, as a result of the current configuration of domestic groups. The results of this research will serve as reference for architectural projects whose spatial proposals has an approach to contemporary family demands, defining new aspects to be incorporated into interior design of the apartments offered by the real estate market. To do so, will be identified, collected, systematized and studied various types of documents, Censuses, population studies of organs such as the IBGE, the SEADE, and academic studies on this topic. The proposed research will make use of others researches already conducted in Nomads.usp - Center for the Study of Interactive, in order to update their data and point to other issues. These concerns are embedded in a larger study already in progress at Nomads.usp, in the area of Contemporary Housing, under the coordination of Prof. Assoc. Dr Marcelo Tramontano, whose main objective is the study and production of alternatives to those commonly used in housing design in Brazil, seeking to review the conventional models, and making an inquiry of its design in relation to the changing needs of Brazilian society: new profile population, their lifestyles and the emerging diversity of composition of their households.
