Abstract In this study, we attempt to obtain a better understanding of the ontological argument developed by the logician Kurt Godel. The presentation will follow the axiomatic method, as originally proposed by Godel, making use of a second order modal logic. After the presentation of the argument it will be made the defense from its recent objections. Finally, we will try to show whether or not the notion of God that is derived from the argument is sufficient for an argument in favor of the existence of the God of theistic tradition. By doing this, we need to compare Godels argument with another contemporary, Alvin Plantingas argument. (AU) | |
