Abstract

The information, in all its forms, constitutes a key variable of the current historical period, and with the improvement and a greater dissemination of information flows we witness an expansion of the research firms around the world.In Brazil, IBOPE group takes the lead in the market research industry and has its headquarters installed in the city of São Paulo, the main node of the national urban network. From this metropolis depart flows of strategic information, which upon arrival at the hands of major decision agents, become high-value resources, maximizing the possibilities of decision making, agility and precision.Supplying the capitalist market and the State with vital information from many different sectors of society, the IBOPE group ends up working in the construction of the territory, as it supplies with strategic and privileged information the most diverse sector of the economy and the government, which are today responsible for organizing the national territory. As well as the firm's office network requalifies the national urban network bringing new content to the cities.Thus, this study aims, from the variable of information, to investigate and shed light on issues relevant to the participation of the IBOPE group in the (re) ordering of Brazilian geographic space, problematizing the possible relations between the information as a commodity and the strategic and rational production of the national space.
