Abstract

Within the scope of bioenergy production studies, this project will be directed to the assessment of AnSBBR applied to biohydrogen production from treatment synthetic glucose based wastewater. The efficiency and conversion factor (between produced hydrogen and consumed organic matter) are analyzed as to the variation of the organic load imposed on the system by modifying the influent concentration and cycle time of the reactor. Tests will be conducted using different volumetric organic loads (9.0, 12.0, 13.5, 18.0 and 27.0 gCOD/L.d), which will be modified according to: (I) influent concentration (3600 and 5400 mgCOD/L) and (II) cycle time (4, 3 and 2 h). These tests will be performed at constant temperature of 30.0°C and the concentration of organic matter in the wastewater formulated from synthetic glucose-based effluent will be 3600 and 5400 mgCOD/L. As inert support for biomass immobilization low-density polyethylene will be used. The results will enable defining the best operating conditions in terms of biohydrogen production.
