Abstract

Focusing the theme "production, quality and sustainability of the grassland ecosystem," the objective is to describe the effects of organic and mineral fertilization combined with irrigation in the production potential and quality of tanzania grass (Panicum maximum, Jacq. Cv. Tanzania), as well and chemical changes in the soil. The research will be developed in the Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Veterinárias (FCAV), Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Jaboticabal, São Paulo. Will be evaluated the effects of mineral fertilizer, fertilization with biofertilizer derived from the digestion of cattle manure, fertilization with compost, derived from the composted manure from cattle and, absence of fertilization, two irrigation levels (absence and presence). The experimental will be conducted in two phases: during the dry period (april 2012 to september 2012) and rainy (october 2012 to march 2013). Experimental design will be used in randomized blocks in a 4x2 factorial design with four replications. Cutting the grass will be realized when the canopy is intercepting 95% of photosynthetically active radiation. Tests will be done to quantify the mass produced, chemical composition and morphological analysis in order to evaluate the effect of treatments on production potential and quality of the plant. Soil samples will be drawn at depths 0 to 20 and 20 to 40 cm at the beginning and end of the experiment, to perform chemical analysis.
