Abstract Nanostructured biomaterials are promising because of their likeness with natural nanostructures of the extracellular-matrix of all body tissues. In the class of nanostructured materials the vertically aligned multiwalled carbon nanotubes (VACNT) have great potential for biomedical applications. VACNT present the unique properties of high electrical conductivity, high chemical stability, high mechanical strength and easiness of functional groups incorporation. Template-induced hydroxyapatite (HA) has broad prospects in the applied fields of regenerative medicine and bone repair because of excellent bioactive properties. The following studies will performed for these main aims: (i) Production and characterization of VACNTs films grown using microwave chemical vapor deposition; (ii) Superficial modification of VACNT using oxygen plasma etching (VACNT-O2); (iii) Production of HA/VACNT-O2 nanocomposites (iv) HA/VACNT-O2 composites biomineralization in vitro. The goal of this work will be show that the HA/VACNT-O2 nanocomposites can accelerate in vitro and in vivo biomineralization process. These studies are indispensable for production of nanobiomateriais for bone tissue regeneration. | |
