Abstract

This Research Plan proposes to continue the Doctoral studies "Vertical Sealing Paper Tubes Panel: study, proposal and performance analysis" (SALADO, 2011), made with the assistance of FAPESP. In this study modular vertical sealing paper tubes panels and connection pieces of ferrocement, apart from the construction system based on pre-fabrication, were developed. These products were tested in several technical laboratory tests and also at the construction test cell, being approved for use in civil construction. The study also got publicity in the press, having many full papers been published about it and also having a patent request embracing all the components and the construction system elaborated. However, according with what will be exposed next, the protection against the solar incidence and humidity was the only topic tested that needs further improvements in order to be used outdoors too. Therefore, the objective of the research proposed is to study an efficient protection against the solar incidence and humidity to these panels. The purpose is to test alternative waterproof resins and substances for solar protection through tests of moisture content and artificial accelerated aging, apart from the construction of a new test cell for comparison of the results. Benefiting from the construction of a new test cell, thermal and acoustic performance measurements of the paper tube panels will also be included. This study is of great relevance and necessity in the present conjuncture because it encourages the use of residues in the civil construction and contributes to minimize the exploration of the world's natural resources and the amount of landfills.
