Abstract

This work aims to integrate the knowledge in the areas such as control theory and Naval Engineering, more specifically the project of vessels. Usually, the controller design, an important part of the performance of the vessel in maneuvering is done after the completion of the base project of it. What is proposed is to develop the controller concurrent with the design of the vessel. The Controller of our interest is the Proportional Integral Derivative (PID). Its construction is simple and also its implementation. However, usually the technique of tuning - adjusting parameters - requires more experience than methodology. We intend to explore an alliance between classical control theory and multidisciplinary optimization methods already developed, in a different way than is usually seen in the naval project.(AU)
