Abstract

This project intends to realize an analysis of the themes and style of the movie Persona, directed by the Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman and released in 1966. The movie tells the story of two women: an actress, Elizabeth, and her nurse, Alma. When the first one mysteriously becomes mute, the second one takes her to a beach house, away from the exterior world, in order to help her. As time passes, the personality of the two women starts to become one. The objectives of this project are: to identify the themes and the style of the movie (for ex, the use of close-ups), to comprehend how this movie fits itself into the panorama of the European cinema of the sixties and to help the student to learn how to realize an academic project.(AU)
