Diversity of Leguminosae in the "restinga" and in the "Tabuleiros" of Pirambu, Sergipe, Brazil

Abstract

Among the different vegetal communities that constitute the vegetation complex of the Atlantic Forest, deserve highlights the vegetation of Restinga, that develops on coastal sandy plains, and the Tabuleiros, found in patches of sandy soils on low plateaus adjacent to the coastal plains. However, the complete distinction of these areas is difficult due to the proximity of these regions and the characteristic sandy soil. These environments present an expressive floristic richness, with species that can occur in both communities, but it is likely the occurrence of zones where the vegetation changes abruptly. This study will seek to analyze the floristic similarities between the areas of Restinga and the Sandy Trays in Pirambu, Sergipe, through the floristic composition of Leguminosae and of the data of distribution. The collecting will be carried out monthly in 2012 and 2013. Specimens collected will be herbalized and deposited in the herbaria collections of UEC (Universidade Estadual de Campinas - UNICAMP) and ASE (Universidade Federal de Sergipe - UFS). Descriptions of the taxa and a key to the identification based on morphological characters of specimens herbalized will be prepared. For the analysis of the floristic similarity between areas of Restinga and Tabuleiros a matrix of presence and absence of the occurrence of the species collected will be used. Multivariate analyzes will be carried out with the use of the program FITOPAC 1.6. Furthermore these data will be compared with other floristic studies carried out on the Brazilian Coast. The use of the wealth of Leguminosae as a tool to understand the similarities between these regions may provide relevant information that subsidizes discussions related to the knowledge of the vegetation formations of Tabuleiro and Restinga and the conservation of these environments. It also contributes to the enrichment of information concerning the flora of Sergipe. (AU)
