Abstract

The temporal processing is one of the hearing physiological mechanisms most affected by aging. Just as the beginning of the aging process there is still no consensus concerning the early deterioration of temporal processing. We hope with the present study to expand the knowledge of the effects of aging on temporal processing, as well as to investigate the process of declining solving skills and sequencing. Objective: To evaluate the effects of aging on auditory temporal processing and compare the behavioral responses of auditory temporal processing in different age groups. Will be selected 20 normal-hearing persons aged 35 to 55 years. The partaker will be gathered in groups according to their age group, Group I consisted of 10 adults aged 35 to 45 years and GII of 10 adults from 46 to 55 years. All participants will undergo a basic audiological evaluation and through the cognitive screening test Mini-Mental State Examination - MMSE, the persons with scores under 24 points will be excluded from the sample. The assessment of temporal processing is performed by means of the Gap in Noise - GIN and Duration Pattern Test. The statistical study of this project includes external advice from a professional.(AU)
