Abstract

The lower urinary tract obstructive diseases of cats occur quite often in practice Veterinary Clinic, often leading to acute renal impairment loss, electrolyte imbalances, and acid-generating bases of great magnitude that need immediate treatment. The changes observed in obstructive disease under the elevation of serum levels of ions such as potassium, sodium, magnesium, and calcium, are reflected in changes in the skeletal muscle system as heart failure. Hyperkalemia together with acidosis is capable of inducing a depolarizing block of cardiac muscle cells and cardiac arrhythmias. Although the changes posed by eletrocardiográficas and acid-basic are not as accurate as clinical practice, are potentially reversible with the correct treatment. Knowledge and description of these changes are vital for the success of the treatment. Despite the great breadth of searches performed on the lower urinary tract obstructive disease of cats, there are few studies using cases met in routine hospital clinics and electrocardiographic changes related to basic acid and electrolyte imbalance. The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the changes in electrocardiographic, laboratory and systemic blood pressure in cats males with lower urinary tract obstruction met in the routine the Medical Clinic service of small animals of FMVZ-Unesp, Botucatu Campus by establishing a correlation between these changes and metabolic abnormalities.(AU)
