Abstract

This project has as object of study the visitors of Pinacoteca do Estado, in the Luz District (city of São Paulo, Brazil). This study will try to apprehend and explain the relations of consumption and of sociability among the visitors of Pinacoteca, not only inside this institution but also in its surroundings. The interest is justified by discussions about projects of "revitalização" ("revitalization") or "requalificação" ("requalification") of a deteriorated area (just as the case of the area in focus) that involve creation, enlargement and strengthening of cultural institutions. The focus of this research, however, will be the own experience of the visitors of Pinacoteca, to be more specific, the sociability among the visitors of this art museum, the interaction (or the lack of it) among them and among other social actors that exist in the region and the relationship between the visitors of the museum and the space (indoor and outdoor). Besides, the research will analyze this experience based on a perspective of the anthropology of consumption, adjusting the focus to the specificities of the cultural goods. (AU)
