Abstract

The first highway concessions in Brazil completed more than ten years.However, there are few studies on this theme focusing its spatialaspects. In order to contribute to the study of this topic, this project proposes to conduct an investigation in which the implications of road concessions are interpreted for the spatial interactions andthe production of the Brazilian territory, through territorialadjustments to meet the demands of large businesses and corporationsfor better fluidity conditions. The proposal will be based on thereading of texts (print and digital) that contribute to the discussionof issues related to highway concessions in Brazil and othercountries, and topics such as neoliberalism, the role of the state,spatial interactions and the territorial fluidity. It will also benecessary to analyze data and primary information (through fieldsurvey) and secondary information obtained from governmentinstitutions in the search for material related to highway concessionsand the transportation sector. In this sense, the spatial cutting arefive units of the Brazilian federation: São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul,Paraná, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais.
