Abstract

Bruxism can be defined as the parafunctional habit of grinding or clenching, which may occur during sleep or wakefulness. To be the complex etiology of bruxism, a multi-professional approach is needed, including joint of physiotherapy, pharmacotherapy, occlusal therapies, and psychological therapies. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the electromyographic signals of the masseter and anterior temporal pre and post-therapy with Melissa officinalis L in children with bruxism. Will be evaluated children of both sexes, aged 6 to 10 years. The sample will be divided into two groups, each containing 12 individuals, a group I: children with bruxism undergoing therapy with Melissa officinalis L; group II: children with bruxism undergoing therapy with a placebo solution. The groups will be submitted to electromyographic evaluation. The results will be computed and statistical analysis performed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) Student's t test and nonparametric tests. All tests are considered 95% of significance (p <0.05).(AU)
