Abstract

According the principles of the brazilian health system (SUS), municipalities are considered as the main health care planners and providers at the local level, therefore responsible for the TB surveillance and control. The implementation of municipal TB control programs (MTCP) implies the recognition of their respective contexts and organizational processes, which may help to understand which factors are involved in achieving the goals set by TB policies. An ecological study, descriptive and exploratory, will be conducted to analyze MTCP performance in cities of São Paulo State (SPS) from 2006 to 2010. We propose the use of cluster analysis to identify municipalities with similar profiles regarding TB control performance using operational indicators. The calculation of operational indicators used data on TB cases, residents and treated in SPS during the study period, collected from the electronic information system (TBWEB). Correspondence analysis will be used to verify association between clusters and the demographic, epidemiological and health system characteristics from the studied cities. These data will be collected from TBWEB and from public databases DATASUS, IBGE and DAB/MS. Thus, through this study, we expect to support the process of TB control programa organization and management in SPS, based on the evaluation of local health systems, identifying strengths and weaknesses of municipalities in fighting the disease.
