Abstract

This project aims to reconstruct the transformations through which the urban space of Presidente Prudente passed , in the 1970s, through the study of the practices, spaces and times of the sociability of the generation that lived their youth in this period. His proposition appears of need to deepen previous studies that worked with this thematic from the comparative study between the generations of 1950 and 1970. The current proposal, as the anterior, have with central source the oral testimonies of people who lived in his youth in the city in this period. But this time, the proposal seek to articulate such sources with a greater collection of documents on the city of Presidente Prudente. This period is justified, because the 1970s was marked in the city for many sweeping changes, due to their greater connection to the wider world and to rural exodus, which made the city explode in various neighborhoods, new subdivisions and irregular occupations. The earlier research was not sufficient to explain the increased complexity of the city during the period and it not deepened in the different contexts of youth sociability which existed in the city and made it an urban space more plural, diverse and complex. Track and rebuild this process of complexification of the city, through the study of practices, times and spaces of sociability youth of generation of 1970 is the focus of this proposal. (AU)
