Abstract

Morphological polymorphism was observed in genera of the subfamily Hypoptopomatinae belonging to loricariids. For the genus Otothyris, changes in morphology will be studied to assess whether there are patterns of occurrence and determine whether they are ontogenetic differences, of sex, populations or species. Since states related to these characteristics were used to formulate hypotheses of phylogenetic relationships for the subfamily by several authors, this project aims to broaden the analysis of variables to assist in the selection of characters for future phylogenetic analyzes.
