Abstract

This research project is related to the experimental investigation of the flow in a radial diffuser with the objective of analyzing the influence of the seat geometry on the pressure profile on the surface of the frontal disc. An existing experimental setup will be adapted by installing different types of seat geometries: seats with chamfers and seats with round corners. The flow will be characterized by measuring the distance between discs, pressure on the frontal disc surface, and Reynolds number of the flow. Laminar and turbulent flows with Reynolds numbers varying from 1,000 to 10,000 will be studied in geometry with a diameter ratio, D/d=1.5, for distances between discs ranging from 0.3 to 3.0 mm.(AU)
