Abstract

This project aims to evaluate the distribution of lignin in stem cells from sugar cane, submitted to treatment with a solution of sodium sulfite-alkaline. For this, the cane is cut into size fractions determined to be impregnated with a solution of sodium hydroxide (5%) and sodium sulfite (10%). Next, the bagasse will be autoclaved at 121 ° C at different times. Will use three canes taken from a breeding program with different chemical compositions. The distribution of lignin before and after treatment will be determined by UV microspectrophotometry. In addition, will be determined changes in the absorption of water and of sulfonic acid groups on the fiber.(AU)
