Abstract

The subject of the research project is the assessment of historical and aesthetic assumptions of the theatrical form of the "learning play" (Lehrstück) as it appears in Heiner Müller's dramaturgical works in the 1970s. Two research hypotheses will be tested by this project: 1) Müllers plays are inseparable from the critical confrontation of Bertolt Brecht pedagogical theater, particularly the "learning play" model developed by Brecht in the play. The measures taken (1930): 2) such confrontation presupposes the aesthetic and literary debates between Walter Benjamin and Brecht about the parable form of Franz Kafka's narratives. (AU)
