Abstract

The main point of this research is to understand Aristotle's theory of sense-perception in particular the notion of likeness which is the explanatory principle of sense-perception. Up to now, this investigation has come to an understanding of alteration as the peculiar process of sensation. In the work that has been studied, the De Anima, there is a description about Aristotle's meaning of alteration as explanatory on sense-perception. This explanation refers to sensation and the process of assimilation as the process of sentient passing away from his potential state for the sensation's actuality. Therefore, the next step towards an understanding about this theory must be in the effort of developmental conceptual comprehension on the notions of actuality and potentiality from Aristotle's Metaphysics. In addition, such terms are the focus of study of Professor David Lefebvre (Université Paris-Sorbonne) who will guide me through this period of research. (AU)
