Influence of dye solutions in color stability and surface roughness of composite resins submitted prior to immersion in mouthwashes

Some chemical compounds resulting from oral mouthwashes, bleaching agents, and foods can influence the physical properties of composites resins. Information about the effect of these solutions in these materials is still limited. Thus, the objective of this study will evaluate the influence of dye on color stability and surface roughness of composites resins submitted prior to mouthwash or whitening. For this, five different brands of composites laboratory will be evaluated: Adoro, Resilab, Cristobal, Sinfony, and Epricord. For each type of composite resin, 10 samples will be submitted to five types of solutions, with four oral mouthwash (Listerine, Oral-B, Plax, Periogard) and artificial saliva (control). After a period of 60 hours of immersion in mouthwashes, these samples will be exposed to a coffee solution. The color readings are performed using a reflection spectrophotometer, and surface roughness by a profilometer. The readings will be performed in three different periods: initial, after immersion in mouthwashes, and after immersion in the coffee solution. The data will obtain be submitted to the test of adherence to the normal curve, being applied to the appropriate statistical test for comparing the average values of color change and roughness of the sample.
