Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the influence the application of a desensitizing on the microtensile bond strength (¼TBS), when previously applied to adhesive procedures. Sixteen third molars recently extracted for orthodontic reasons will be used. Occlusal tooth portion was removed with the purpose of exposing the dentin to the achievement of adhesive procedures, but this area was previously worn to standardize the smear layer. Teeth were assigned to 4 groups: G1:OptiBond FL (Kerr Corporation); G2:Desensibilize Nano P (FGM)+OptiBond FL; G3:OptiBond All-in-One (Kerr Corporation); G4:Desensibilize Nano P+OptiBond All-in-One. All teeth will be restored with a composite (Filtek Z350 XT - 3M ESPE). The specimens were sectioned in two perpendicular directions to obtain sticks with a cross-section of 0.7 ± 0.2 mm2, then will be attached to a device and fractured using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min. Data will be subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Tukey's post-hoc test (pÂ0.05). Will be applied the Chi-square test to assess the percentage of spontaneous fracture of specimens prior to do the mechanical test. (AU)
