Abstract

Stress and depression are increasing in the daily life of schools, either among teachers or students. During the training process, the healthcare students are more exposed to stress and depression due to practical activities at the beginning of the course, and also the characteristics of professions in this field. This study aims to identify the hardy characteristics and the presence of depressive symptoms among students (n=230) of two professional nursing courses in São Carlos city. This is an exploratory, descriptive cross-sectional quantitative approach. Data collection will be performed using validated instruments in Portuguese, Hardiness Inventory, and Beck Depression Inventory, and submitted to statistical analysis seeking to identify associations and correlations between depressive symptoms and hardiness, personal characteristics, and training of the target population. It is hoped that the study can contribute to the implementation of strategies to minimize the stress generates during training and promote hardy characteristics among students. (AU)
