Abstract

This research seeks to unravel the linkages of the Brazilian government' actions to FIFA, and to the construction contractors in the production of the 2014 World Cup' host cities. The transformations on these cities are made exclusively for the World Cup, its final goal is to produce the cities as a scenery, launching out a new business concept using the urban space. Reduced to a scenery the city is involved in new conditions and contradictions in the reproduction of social relations and production relations, which allows one to rethink the processes of fragmentation and urban segregation, as well as the landscape and its economic function.
