Abstract This project aims to discuss the public and the private regarding an alterity thought, both in Jacques Derrida and Jean-Luc Nancy. These authors maintained a strong exchange of ideas, influencing each other's work. However, if their work elaborates a "common thought", it doesn't mean it is an aliance of thought given by the academical institution. In other words, it does not mean that the idea of private is subordinated to the structure of the public, which segregates it and makes it possible, but it means there is something irreducible to the area of the public or of the political. To understand these relations, the debate will be centered in discussion of certain figures of the "stolen heart", taken by the authors. That heart not only would indicate that the public and the private are constantly moving into each other and coexist in an interior partially contaminated, but it would also indicate that this same heart is inaccessible as an interiority. The dialogue between this two works, that first will focus the matter and the figure of the heart, will then follow into the discussions about touching, community and hospitality, present matters in the works of Nancy and Derrida. | |
